The Magic Cultivator (that’s a direct translation from the Japanese) is a hand-torsion weeder featuring two adjustable sprung wires that run right in the row followed by two sharpened blades and then a pair of tine rakes. This tool is designed to remove in-row weeds and weeds very close to the row. It needs to be used when the weeds are just germinating (white thread or cotyledon stage) and the crop being weeded is less than about 8" tall. This tool makes early cultivations fast and effective. Excellent for cultivating paper pot crops such as lettuce and spinach. Handle is 5 feet long.

Standard Magic Cultivator
11.8 inches wide. Can pass over crops as tall as 8-10 inches. It can cultivate rows that are as close as 7-8" (maybe a bit less) when the crop is small/young. As the crop gets larger, and the space between rows narrows, the tool would need more room to operate...although ideally, weeds have already been cleared and the crop canopy is suppressing weed growth.
